Build Plate

Everything is printed on something.

The something can have a huge affect on the print, especially adhesion.

It is quite often helpful to know what you are printing on.

My plate may be what you are building on but we need to know what material it is. The plate that came with my machine does not work either. You probably have a machine I do not have and you are asking me go go look up what build plate some machine came with. That is something you can do and if you want me to do it, I’m just going to move on. The plate that came with X is also a problem. The Bambu Labs X1C came with 2 different plates depending on when you got it.

The plate is not spring steel. It is spring settl with something on it. Common materials are PEI, common for many modern build surfaces. Glass on older printers cause it is flat. Glass with a coating, on older printers cause it is flat and holds better. There are lots more things that can be used as print beds.

In olden times painters tape was used for a print surface. It is better than nothing on an unheated bed. If you are using a printer old enough to not have a heated bed, you better be a pro or you should get a new printer. If you are using painter tape you are just plain wrong or your bed is really bad. Either way don’t. If your really do not need painter tape don’t use it. If your bed is so bad you need painter’s tape, get a new bed. Any way I am not going to deal with it.
